on the mend

I'm back at home from the hospital and recovering. My minor surgery went very well and I'm on the mend. Thankfully, I have plenty to keep me occupied while lying around.

books and yarn

Currently reading Home by Toni Morrison, one of my favorite authors ever; and the short story collection Night Shift by Stephen King. I know; could they be any more different? I guess I just have a wide range of reading interests and since I've been reading King since I was about 11 years-old, his writing always feels like "comfort reading" to me. That probably sounds rather crazy since his books are about crazy things! But once I began choosing my own books as a child, I read a lot of King, Judy Blume and Hollywood biographies (because that's what my parents had at home, which begs me to ask "Mom and Dad! Where was the supervision??").

And I'm still currently knitting a sock, with a pattern of my own making -- one that I'll be happy to share if all goes well.

Joining in with Ginny's Yarn Along and Tami's WIPW today.

It must be nice to be home! I just had to laugh when I saw Judy Blume in your post! Oh how I loved her books when I was a girl. And King is another fave (Have you read 11/22/63? Awesome!!!) Rest and be well. You're in my prayers!

I am happy you are on the mend and everything went well. Love the sock and the color. That might actually get me to make a sock. Funny how there just wasn't that much supervision when we were growing up. I read all kinds of stuff too. :)

Love your comments on what you read as a child. I always think that about my Mom and movies. What was she doing taking us to some of the movies we saw at the age we saw them? :-)

Now, the Stephen King you can keep. You are so funny. Comfort reading? I've never heard his works described THAT way before! ;)

Ugh! Recovering from something like this is always harder when you have children. I hope that they take it easy on you! And that your knitting and reading keep you well occupied ;o)

Glad you are doing well.

I read a lot of Judy Blume too. No Stephen King though - too scary for me!

Glad you are on the mend and enjoying some good reads. I also was a fan of judy blume, but risque novels grabbed my attention.. jackie Collins, Danielle Steel, Donald Goines... talk about lack of parental supervision...lol

However, I was fond of covering my novels with brown paper bags... snickering.

(I really admire Toni Morrison's writing too, I was lucky enough to attend a reading by her in my hometown a couple of years ago... mesmerising)

Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by and leaving comment!

I just want to say that I hope you feel better. I know how hard recovery of any kind can be! And I love the sock. I know that it is in typical "summer" colors, but I think this would be just brilliant in the fall as well! xox
