spring table

table1

This is our kitchen table, now complete with handmade placemats. Do you remember this fabric? Oh, I only bought it last year. *sigh* Anyway, the floral mats are for me and #1 Girl, while the dotty ones are for the boys, ages 7 to 42. Different prints, but with coordinating colors.

As you can see, the mats are reversible.

Whoops, suddenly I'm hearing a rendition of Sesame Street's "One of These Things Is Not Like the Others"!

See that mat there, with the stripes going vertically instead of horizontally like everyone else? Seems I wasn't paying attention when it came time to cut that backing. I did have enough fabric to cut another back the right way so that all would have horizontal stripes, but in the end, I was okay with the matchy-unmatchy of the set.

After all, I'm not perfect and neither are my projects.

And don't worry, much as I love my sewing machine, I still love yarn, so I'm back to knitting today. Have a lovely day, all!

Oh, those are wonderful! I love all three fabrics, especially the floral one. Mismatchy - matchy is very fashionable right now.

If you hadn't shown me I never would have noticed that rebel mat. I think you did a great job!

I love the matchy-unmatchiness of them all, especially that rebel mat! I bought a sewing book on the weekend. For my fantasy life where I actually have time (and the ability) to sew! Heh heh. One day....

I have to agree with Tracey. Wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. They're beautiful! And oh how I enjoyed reliving the 'not like the other' game on Sesame Street... :)

i think they look great! and i love the colors...so many people are afraid of it but i like it in small pops like placemats and napkins, the ones you can change seasonally or when the mood strikes.

I love the bright colors against the dark table. Wonderful! Most of all, I love that one sticks out (vertical instead of horizontal stripes).
