Frogging and Loving

What do you do when a project is boring you to tears?

You frog it. The Ashford Shawl is no more.

The last couple of times I worked on it, I knew something was amiss when I picked up the needles, looked at the halfway doneness of it and gave a great big sigh. I should have stopped right then, but noooo...I knit a few rows, sighing all the while, asking it "Why can't you knit yourself, for crying out loud?"

I had fallen out of love and since the process is such a big part of enjoyment for me, I decided frogging it would save us both some pain.

But this lacy thing...

Girasole WIP

Progress was halted for a while because my wooden needles, much as I love them, were dragging and slowing everything down. I ordered these Addi lace circulars...

New Needles

Just look at those pointy tips!

...so everything is once again swimming along. And I mean swimming! Once I transferred my stitches from the wooden needles to these slick beauties, I finished six rounds in record time. Me! The slow one!

This is part of my Finish-What-You-Started Plan, where I propose "no new projects until I only have 1 or 2 WIPs."

Neapolitan Blanket

Ticking off another project...

Wavy Chevrons Baby Blanket

Pattern: Wavy Chevrons from The Encyclopedia of Crochet Techniques
Yarn: Hobby Lobby Cotton
Hook: US size G (4mm)
Finished size: Approximately 28 x 38" (71 x 96.5 cm)

I am so happy to finally be done with this baby blanket! I'm still in the midst of some long-term projects (more on that next time) but making progress.

Wavy Chevrons Baby Blanket

This wasn't an actual pattern-pattern. You just need to decide how many stitches to cast on and follow the stitch pattern, so I CO 129. I wanted a nice crib-size blanket and that seemed a good size. After that, it's very straightforward. I'm just calling it "Neapolitan Blanket" because the colors are just like that ice cream.

The yarn is soft, but kind of splitty, so I'm not sure I'd ever use it again. I do like the wash-and-dry aspect, which I think is important for new parents (who has time to hand-wash things when they have a newborn?).

I'm all wrapped up with someplace to go.

Bloomin'

Yellow

Maybe these lovely flowers will distract you from the fact that I have no knitting content. I've been working on some projects, though very, very slowly. I do have an almost-FO -- just some ends to weave in and hopefully it'll be here for your viewing pleasure next time!

Pink

I have a boatload of WIPs few WIPs, some of which have been around forever. So although I'm anxious to continue the Christmas knitting, I'm not casting on anything new until I get through a couple of my long-term projects (**cough**don't-hold-me-to-that-you-know-how-flaky-I-can-be**cough**).

Pink

Hope you're enjoying these blooms as much as I have
